Dan Hyun: Lead Pastor

Dan Hyun | Lead Pastor

Pastor Dan was raised in the greater Philadelphia area, receiving a degree in speech communication from Penn State University and a Masters in Divinity from Biblical Seminary. Dan is passionate for God’s work in the city, and he has experience serving with urban churches in Philadelphia and Baltimore. In 2008, Dan led a team to start The Village Church with the hopes of expressing a multicultural expression of the kingdom of God. Some of his interests include urban ministry, church planting, sports, pop culture, and conversations on culture, race, and ethnicity. Larry Lin: Assistant Pastor

Larry Lin | Assistant Pastor

Larry was born and raised in San Jose, California, and he has a civil engineering degree from Cornell University and a Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. After briefly working in college ministry, Larry joined The Village staff team in August 2013. Larry is also a husband to Van-Kim, and he enjoys playing basketball, songwriting, and talking about politics and culture. See his blog to read his latest musings.

  

Jason Melani: Worship Arts Director

Jason Melani | Worship Arts Director

Jason has been involved with music his entire life. He sings and plays drums, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and the harpejji, a new instrument created in Baltimore by Marcodi Musical Products which he co-founded. Along with new arrangements to older songs, Jason enjoys including original worship songs into The Village worship gatherings. He lives in Original Northwood with his wife and 4 daughters. Jason and The Village Church’s passion is to see the gospel expressed in Baltimore by engaging culture through the arts.

Van-Kim Lin: Children's Ministry Director

Van-Kim Lin | Children’s Ministry Director

Van-Kim (VK) is originally from Sugar Land, TX. She made her way to upstate New York where she graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Human Development and where she met her husband, Larry. Afterwards, she found herself in Baltimore, eventually graduating from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health with a degree in Child Health. She now works as a research scientist for Child Trends, helping policymakers understand how to improve the lives of children. Van-Kim loves to clean and organize, try new restaurants, people-watch, and drink iced coffee.

Kristi Culbreth: Youth Director & Deacon

Kristi Culbreth | Youth Director & Deacon

Kristi is originally from Newberry, South Carolina. She moved to Baltimore after college for a year of service and fell in love with the city. By day, Kristi works in vocational services for people with disabilities (and by night, gets to plan fun youth nights for the Village Church youth)! Kristi lives in Medfield with her two awesome roommates and enjoys knitting, hammocking, and waiting in anticipation for the Orioles to win the World Series.

Andy Greenfield: Pastoral Intern

Andy Greenfield | Pastoral Intern

Andy was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. He spent several years in his early 20s touring the U.S. in a Christian rock band, and now he spends his days managing a music retail store. In 2012, Andy and his wife moved to Baltimore, and since then God has added two adorable boys to their family. They live in the Guilford/Waverly area of the city where Andy leads one of the Village’s community groups. Andy loves reading, studying, and teaching the Bible. In particular, he has a special passion for the Hebrew Scriptures, the culture they emerged out of, and the effect that understanding them has on who Jesus is, His life, His message, and our future. Additionally, Andy has a passion for creation care, music, cycling, hiking/camping, and exploring the small unique parts of this beautiful city. Andy has joined the Village leadership team to learn from their wealth of knowledge and wisdom on church planting with the excitement and anticipation of planting a church in the near future.

Rob Pomier: Redemption Ministries Director

Rob Pomier | Redemption Ministries Director

Rob was born and raised in the Hampden area. He found the Lord despite struggling with long-term addiction and a violent upbringing. After a near-death experience due to drug use, he has devoted his life to the Lord and his time to the church so that he can help others who have experienced similar situations. Rob is passionate about boxing, is a die-hard Ravens fan, and is currently trying to make up for lost time with his children.

Ashley Lapointe: Deacon

Ashley Lapointe | Deacon

Ashley Lapointe was born in Kenya to missionary parents. She moved and traveled a lot, but claims Southern California as her home, where she attended high school and college before moving to Baltimore in 2009. She has attended the Village Church since 2010. She is a wife, mother of three, registered nurse, and currently serves as program manager for a non-profit that supports children suffering from chronic illnesses through arts and medicine. She is passionate about helping those in need and connecting people with God-given resources to those who can benefit from them.

Mary Ann Jiang: Deacon

Mary Ann Jiang | Deacon

Mary Ann is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. After getting a degree in World Literature and Psychology from the Ohio State University, she came to Baltimore to work at an international relief and development non-profit. In addition to serving as a deacon, Mary Ann enjoys serving in the Village Kids ministry. She avidly enjoys British detective shows and only pretends to follow her alma mater’s sports.

Matt Taylor: Deacon

Matt Taylor | Deacon

Matt grew up and attended college in Kansas, and then went to medical school in Missouri before coming to Baltimore for residency training in psychiatry. Having finished his Adult Psychiatry residency at Johns Hopkins, he is currently a Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellow at Hopkins, and in the future hopes to work as a clinician and medical educator. After several years away from the church, Matt re-encountered Christ upon moving to Baltimore and joining the Village Church in 2012. Matt has a particular interest in helping and guiding persons with mental illness and addiction problems, and in spreading the Gospel within the medical and scientific communities.

Ryan Miller: Deacon

Ryan Miller | Deacon

Ryan Miller was born in Kentucky but has called many places home throughout his life. He has spent a majority of his professional life in the Baltimore/Washington D.C metro area. Currently, he resides in the Mayfield neighborhood in Baltimore City with his wife and two dogs and two cats. Ryan works in the finance industry in downtown Baltimore, and he enjoys traveling, watching sports with friends, investments, writing, and reading books. Mercy ministry is very close to his heart because he has a heart for urban ministry.

Shawn Du: Deacon

Shawn Du | Deacon

Shawn was born in the Inner Mongolia province of China, lived for a few years in the Baltimore area, and grew up mostly in Houston, Texas. He studied at Princeton University where he was involved in the Manna Christian Fellowship, and is currently a graduate student in health economics and policy at Johns Hopkins. He is proud to be a part of the Village family and for the opportunity to be involved in what God is doing through the Village in the neighborhood and the city. In his spare time, Shawn enjoys reading Wikipedia, running, making random jokes, and having engaging conversations with others.
